Project Managers need to gain respect by their team, in doing so should be up to date with all aspects of the project on a daily basis. My view is the first task each morning is to quickly scan any emails that potentially could be a blocker from your clients on progressing the project. The PM needs to prioiritise effectively these mails, then communicate to their stream leads the issues for effective resolution. Cross communication is vital between teams; the PM is the link between teams. Updating the daily tracker is vital and issuing it speedily to allow team leads to make decisions for their own tasks of the day. Whilst implementing the above in the first few hours of a day reviewing the critical path is essential as this is the progress timeline that can affect the triple constraint of your project. Finally, prepare for your meetings for the following day whilst duly ensuring you attend as many meetings as possible throughout the current day. Additionally, it must be reiterated promote your project as you progress through your teams and staff and ensure a positive culture through the resources on a daily basis as: 'strategy eats Culture for breakfast'.
