The future common project methodology used will be more towards Agile. In a dynamic team structure, everything is gearing towards Agile. Thus Team Accountability is very important. In my opinion, these are the few common practices to achieve team accountability.
- When assigning to a task, identify a team member’s name instead of putting a team. E.g Alex is tasked to do the procurement and not the procurement team is doing the order placement. Attach a name to an activity, whenever possible.
- Have a good, comprehensive RACI chart, indicating the correct resource to do what tasks / activities.
- Giving clear instruction to resources when assigning the task. No vague requirements and expect resources to have their own creative imagination.
- Once the task is assigned, Project Manager to track the progress regularly to ensure the work is delivered timely and within the expected requirement.
- If the resource is late for delivery, ensure the resource commits a new timeline and is achievable. To avoid repeat delays, the Project Manager will then have to keep close communication with the resource on the progress.
